For the second season in a row, the Huskies play one of the country's hardest schedules. Washington coach Tyrone Willingham can't afford another nonwinning season after a 4-9 mark in 2007, but the Huskies probably have a very difficult time getting to .500 playing a murderer's row of opponents.The way that Willingham has turned things around from the mess (with regards to discipline) that Rick Neuheisel left and Keith Gilbertson had to inherit, I'd be trying to find ways to get him to stay not to leave. I'm not an alumni, but UW should be known for being a good school all around not for the embarassment that their football team was becoming.Washington opens the season with a Pac-10 road game at Oregon on Aug. 30, then plays home games against BCS hopeful BYU and defending Big 12 champion Oklahoma. Anything other than a 0-3 record to start the season would be an achievement. An Oct. 25 home game against Notre Dame -- Willingham's former employer -- rounds out the nonconference schedule.

Maybe your favorite team didn't have the greatest of seasons, or maybe your favorite players have jumped ship; either way, it's nice to relive last season, especially if you're a Giants fan.
the "winner" of the worst-team sweepstakes has the consolation of being first in line for San Diego State phenom Stephen Strasburg. The only collegiate player on the U.S. Olympic team, the right-hander struck out 23 in a game against Utah this year and is the consensus No. 1 overall pick."It's a good year to pick No. 1," said John Manuel, editor of Baseball America. "I love Strasburg, but that's hardly original. He compares favorably to Mark Prior at a similar stage of his career. ... He's an elite, elite guy and could move very quickly."
I sincerely believe that playing to tank only leads to bad things, so hopefully the Mariners can spend the last couple of months developing their younger players and they also might end up with Strasburg.
Whom will of course be traded away for Victor (not Carlos) Zambrano in a couple of years.

Of course David Stern won't have to worry about angry Seattle Supersonics fans much longer. . .Speaking to the media at an NBA finals that has been increasingly overshadowed by the Donaghy scandal, the commissioner said Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference finals might have been officiated poorly, but honestly and not illegally.
"On behalf of my officials, I'd like to tell you that they don't engage in the criminal conduct of which Mr. Donaghy has accused them of," Stern said.
So, the French arguement is that the government of Myanmar does not have the ability to sufficiently protect their citizens AND since the government is not popular or democratic, so forced intervention should be allowed. Seems pretty darn dangerous. . . though with the Chinese/Russian veto no one's forcing themselves into Myanmar."IT WOULD only take half an hour for the French boats and French helicopters to reach the disaster area."
