And everyone's happy

So, Oklahoma City gets a NBA team, the NBA gets 250,000 USD and Seattle gets memories!!!

The NBA fined Sonics minority partner Aubrey McClendon $250,000 for comments he made last week in The (Oklahoma City) Journal Record about his hopes of moving the team to Oklahoma City.

The amount of disdain that the NBA is treating Seattle with is really making me hurt (yeah, I'm kidding. . .sorta).

At least Seattle's doing the "responsible" thing and is planning to hold the owners to the lease agreement (runs through 2010).

Recent published statements by Sonics minority owner Aubrey McClendon that his Oklahoma group bought the team with the intention of moving it out of Seattle appear to have galvanized the city's political front.

Although Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels and Sonics majority owner Clay Bennett have had no communication since the two sent out dueling statements three weeks ago, the Seattle City Council is entering the fray now with a proposal that would bind the team to its KeyArena lease through 2010.
