Stockpiling giant granite boulders in Tokyo Bay for future use in building construction is one thing, but plans have been unveiled for a City in a Pyramid that would float over Tokyo Bay and be 12 times higher than The Great Pyramid at Giza. The idea apparently originates from a 1980s design competition to address urban crowding. According to the web site it would be largely built by robots and house 750,000 people in skyscrapers that would "dangle like fruit from a tree." It would be anchored by piers that are supposedly built to withstand tsunamis, earthquakes, and volcanoes. You could get around the structure using Personal Rapid Transit Pods. Sounds like Waterworld meets the Jetsons...
Damn. That's crazy. TheyDamn. That's crazy. They should call it "Pyramid at Ginza" HA!
Dice, whats the deal with all the craze over the new mall that opened in Tokyo??
LivingNot sure if I wanted to be suspended like that. . .I have this weird fear of falling.
The new mall is in Omotesando and it is called Omotesando Hills, built by the same firm that built Roppongi Hills, where Yahoo! JAPAN is located.
I have not been there yet, so I don't know how it is, but it is not a towering behemoth like RH, supposed to be kind of nice, but probably filled with high end brand boutiques.
