I finally broke open the Mongolian Vodka, named after Chingis Khan’s grandson if I remember correctly, that Dan gave me when he was “in country” in November. I don’t know why it took so long, perhaps it was because I was having too much fun looking at the awesome bottle. Maybe it was because it was distilled from wheat not potatoes. Or perhaps because the only Vodka drink I know how to make, or have the bar to make, is a Vodka tonic (sorry Mongols, I ain’t drinking it neat) and it is wintertime and all.

But it was warm last night, and I spotted some great serving-size cans of Hansen’s tonic water at Trader Joe’s and was inspired. My, it was refreshing. The Vodka, she smelled strong, and packed a mean punch. C wouldn’t even take a sniff for fear of damaging our unborn child. But I digress. It was mighty tasty and quite smooth. The perfect cocktail. Thanks, Dan. I tip a Vodka tonic in your general direction!
Sweet. The Khubalai isSweet. The Khubalai is definately for drinking--eh, or household cleaning. Morning, noon, and night! And good that you cracked it open on Tsaagan Sar (lunar new year)--the Mongols would be proud of that (not so proud of the tonic, but I understand). C probably made the right call on the no-sniff policy. Would you huff paint thinner during pregnancy?
Next time I'm bringing you fermented mare's milk. Now there's a party...

hey, guys, tdog is going to Ulan Bataar in June with the USA wrestling team. I am coaching the team in the University world championships.
I have been there once before in the winter of 1987. It was the coldest place I have ever been. Bad thing was that I just quit drinking for good so I didn't drink any Chingis and horse's juice.
I am going back there to see my root and check out the country when it's not frozen. The people look like Dice there.
Dice, I'm not sure if that'sDice, I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not? tdog, look me up when you're in town. Dice has my contact details...
true trueThat stuff is good man, but issue a heartfelt apology to the people of Mongolia for the shameful use of tonic. I'd like to blame my splitting headache on the Khubalai, but I think the culprit was that damn couch of ours, sitting on it for a long period of time always kills me. Damn those over stuffed pillows...
