Jet Blue passengers were able to watch DirectTV of their hobbled plane make an emergency landing yesterday. How does that work exactly? Does the pilot come on and say "Uh, ladies and gentlemen, this is you captain speaking. Uh, if you look out the left side of the plane, uh...you can see us dropping fuel into the Pacific Ocean in preparation for an emergency landing...if you are on the right side of the plane, errrrr, you can also watch us dump fuel by tuning in to DirectTV channel 22."
Perhaps more disturbing was the fact that when I tuned in to CNN before hitting the hay last night, the emergency landing wasn't enough of a disaster to warrant exclusive coverage. They gave us a split screen with the plane on one side and an announcer on the other side proceeded to interview the mother of a recently kidnapped child. Apparently it wasn't salacious enough to keep me riveted, because I went to bed.
wowYeah, except, the reason why they were circling for three hours was because, the airplane was not able to dump fuel.
