Well the one vehicle days are over. We made it last 7 years, but the time had come to get another car. C and I gave in after trying to find a used Protege5 that was in good shape and bought a new '05 Mazda3 5-door. It's a pretty sweet ride (yup those are 17-inch alloys) and has a bit more giddy-up than the truck.

It is truly a world-car...built in Hiroshima, Japan...Volvo designed the chassis and safety features (8 airbags total)...Ford Europe did the suspension...and Mazda tweaked the drivetrain (2.3L 4 that makes 160hp). Buying a car is never very fun and I'm sure I could have driven a harder deal, but I have to admit I like the outcome. It's just too bad it is mostly C's car!

Nice. Looks like a fineNice. Looks like a fine piece of machinery. It kinda seems from the photos like it evolved from a VW Jetta and a PT cruiser--but maybe Im way off on that. How'd you make the decision to go with this? And how much shit can you cram into the wayback? You guys going to convert it to run on biodiesel? Cooking oil..put put.
yeahI can see the VW thing, less the PT Cruiser. I really like the nice aggressive rear haunches of the car. Baby got back. 31 cubic feet of back with the seats folded down. The rear could easily take 4 golf bags. It was a pretty easy call really, there aren't many things out there like it. We narrowed it down to the Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix (but C didn't dig 'em cuz it was hard to see out) and the Ford Focus wagon was not bad, it just screamed "Soccer Mom." Which may happen eventually but in the meantime we can still look cool...
The only downside is CD and no tape which keeps the iPod from being put in the tape adapter method which is the best in my book save for a direct connection. The stereo has no rear RCA jacks so we just got an FM transmitter, but it completely BLOWS. I had one a few years back and it blew too so I sent it back, but I figured I'd give it a go again...oh well. But I guess using CDs is not all that bad...
Four golf bags. Sweet. LetsFour golf bags. Sweet. Lets get the AM.org community together sometime and hit the links in that bad boy
NIIIIIIIIICENice wheels, Good thing CO is going to be using it, she probably looks better in it anyway.
Phat WhipYo, that snizzle is the money dog! Good work man! So, what I really want to know is if you've tried out those 30 cubic feet in the back yet...and I don't mean with golf clubs!
Get the Griffin iTrip transmitter, it works quite well.
Matt
i've got theiTrip and it SUX. I haven't had time yet to even fold down the seats, if you will...
Oh, and the Euro styling cues come from the Alfa Romeo 145 and the Peugeot 307. Pretty interesting really...
