iBooks bumped. . .2005

Apple announced new iBooks, neat features that were introduced to the Powerbooks in February are now available for the iBooks. Also, there is now one 14 inch model as opposed to two, and it has a SuperDrive in it as the default optical drive. Also, all iBooks now start off with 512MB memory as opposed to 256MB. Last iBook update before Intels?

The affordable iBook G4 line for consumers and education customers now feature faster Power PC G4 processors running up to 1.42GHz, 512MB memory across the line, higher performance graphics, built-in AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, the scrolling TrackPad and the Sudden Motion Sensor. Prices start at just $999.

The Mac Minis also got a mini bump.

all in allpretty nice, but not enough to make me want to run out and buy one.

I'd get my running shoesBut. . .if I bought one, it would end up just being another symptom of my mental illness. I am however thinking about recommending or getting either an iBook or a MacMini for my Mom. Get my folks away from their Windows dependency.
